What’s the inspiration behind this new initiative?
The inspiration for our Guaranteed Quick Ship Wallcovering Program comes from Scalamandré’s archive—an extraordinary library of patterns that have transcended time to become true design icons. This program was driven by a desire to make those enduring designs more accessible and immediately available for today’s interiors, while preserving their integrity and impact. It also marks a meaningful return to our roots: For many years, Scalamandré produced its fabrics and trims at its own mill in Long Island City, New York, in a now-landmarked building that still bears our name. We are proud to bring manufacturing back in-house and to the United States, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to craftsmanship and domestic production.
What was the starting point for it?
The starting point was identifying our most sought-after wallcovering patterns—designs our clients return to time and again—and reimagining how we could deliver them with greater speed and reliability. This led to the introduction of our Prints I wallcovering book, which anchors the program. We will continue to expand the Quick Ship offering with thoughtfully developed additions, including our most recent launch, Petite Charms. This is an internally curated program that reflects the depth and strength of the Scalamandré wallcovering offering. It’s a celebration of the brand’s design legacy, shaped through close collaboration across our creative, production and sales teams to meet the evolving needs of the trade.
How does the program push the brand forward?
While rooted in heritage, the program represents a meaningful evolution in how we serve our clients. By guaranteeing stock and enabling quick turnaround, we’re aligning our most iconic designs with the pace of today’s projects—bringing a new level of accessibility and reliability to the brand.
How do the featured designs build on or complement your other offerings?
This program complements our broader wallcovering assortment by offering a dependable core of proven designs that designers can specify with confidence.
What about the collection feels fresh and exciting?
What feels especially fresh is the expanded color palette we’re now able to offer as a result of printing in-house. This capability allows us to reinterpret some of our most iconic patterns with new depth and nuance—introducing updated colorways that feel both current and highly versatile while remaining true to the spirit of the original designs. It brings a renewed sense of energy to familiar motifs, giving designers more flexibility and creative range.
What piece are you most excited to unveil?
What’s most exciting is not a single pattern, but the collective offering—a curated grouping of iconic designs, now readily available. Seeing these beloved patterns positioned as a dependable, in-stock resource is a meaningful moment for the brand.
Tell us about the materials in this collection. Are there certain materials used throughout, and/or a material that is a highlight on a particular piece?
Nearly all wallcoverings in the program are produced in the United States, in Calhoun, Georgia, using a variety of high-quality substrates and printing techniques that honor the original character of each design. We offer coated and uncoated nonwovens, linen, faux silk dupioni, metallics and vinyl Type II. The focus is on consistency, color integrity and craftsmanship across every pattern.
Can the collection be customized? What options are possible?
While the program is designed for immediate availability with stocked SKUs, we also offer customization for larger orders. Both color and substrate can be tailored, and our design studio enjoys working closely with designers to develop custom solutions that align with their vision.
How do you envision designers using this collection?
We envision this collection becoming a go-to resource. Its guaranteed quick shipment makes it especially valuable for projects with tight timelines, while the timeless nature of the designs ensures lasting appeal.
