This fall, Westchester Magazine has put together a one-of-a-kind showhouse entitled American Dream Home, which opened in Tarrytown, NY last Thursday.
Unlike your typical showhouse with multiple designers, this home was designed solely by award-winning interior designer Susan Anthony of Anthony-Wright Interiors and will serve as a pop-up shop to anyone visiting the home.
Guests will be able to go through the home and buy anything they see, from a pillow to a lamp, or the entire furnished house.
The showhouse is located in one of 27 townhomes known as “the Carriage Houses,” which form a community of LEED-registered, ENERGY STAR-efficient homes at the Hudson Harbor.
“We’ve packed a lot of cool ideas into this compact carriage house,” said Anthony. “When we designed the interiors, we wanted to show that you can take some traditional pieces that you love—we used some American antiques and artifacts—and blend them with new choices to form a different design story and way of living.”
The two-level townhome promotes the recent trends of downsizing and that less is more, which seems to be resonating among home-owners in Westchester County. The floor plan includes large open spaces, three bedrooms, three baths, great room patio and balcony, and a two-car garage.
Open house tours will take place every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through November 11. On select Thursdays, Hudson Harbor and Westchester Magazine will sponsor events taking place at the home, in addition to the tours.
This coming Thursday, Oct. 25, guests can sit in on a panel discussion with Benjamin Moore designers with a cocktail party to follow. Thursday, Nov. 8 guests can view the work of local artists and enjoy a meal and wine from local restaurant Crabtree’s Kittle House.
Sponsors of this year’s American Dream Home whose products have been incorporated throughout the house include: Benjamin Moore, Majestic Kitchens & Baths, Marvin Windows & Doors, Waterworks, California Closets, Ethan Allen, and Consolidated Plumbing.
