A February 10 IIDA NY panel, moderated by two student representatives from the Pratt Institute, will feature industry pros discussing what qualities they seek in new hires. The panel will include Angela Finney, senior design associate, SHoP Architects; Ginger Gilden, associate, IA Interior Architects; Dara Osur, senior associate, Gensler; and Steven South, senior interior project designer and senior associate, Perkins+Will

The panel, “Knowledge Forum: Planning Your Job Search,” will focus on effective interviewing skills, how to target employers and how emerging designers can emphasize their skills. It will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gordon International showroom at the NYDC (200 Lexington Ave.). Students will have an opportunity to interact with the panel at a Q&A following the discussion.

The panelists will discuss student portfolios as well. As Osur shares, “After spending 11 years at Gensler, it’s amazing to watch how technology has progressed emerging designers’ portfolios. However, it goes unsaid that the ability to draw and create precise technical drawings and expressive sketches has been central to the architecture profession, not to mention beautiful.”

Register.
