Gary Friedman, Restoration Hardware's Chairman Emeritus, Creator and Curator, has been reappointed Co-CEO and Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors effective immediately. He had previously stepped down to lead Hierarchy, a newly created company offering apparel, accessories, footwear and jewelry, which RH has since acquired the exclusive right to develop. The new concept will be rebranded as RH Atelier and will focus on the development of luxury apparel, accessories, footwear, and jewelry, and be integrated and launched on the RH platform. The brand will be based in New York City, with a satellite office in the RH Center of Innovation and Product Leadership in Corte Madera, CA.
Friedman returns to his prior role alongside Carlos Alberini, who has also been named Co-CEO. Together, they will lead and collaborate on all key strategic decisions impacting the company.
“RH Atelier will be a curated, artisan crafted luxury apparel and accessories brand that will launch with its own distinct catalog, and be integrated into the Company's next generation Full line Design Galleries and Web experience," said Friedman. "It will position RH for continued long term growth, and demonstrates our belief that we can curate a lifestyle well beyond the four walls of the home."
Michael Chu, Former Chairman of RH said, “Gary’s unique vision, creativity and passion have been invaluable to the growth and transformation of RH. Gary and Carlos are a tremendous team and together have made significant contributions to the success of the Company. On behalf of our Board of Directors, we are excited about the future growth and evolution of the RH brand under their leadership."
“I am honored to be rejoining Carlos, and the entire RH team in our quest to create the most innovative and inspiring brand in the industry," said Friedman. "This team's ability to curate and integrate new products, businesses and experiences, then scale them across our multi-channel platform has enabled us to build one of the fastest growing brands in the marketplace.”
