The Philadelphia Antiques Show will take place April 28 to Tuesday, May 1 at the Philadelphia Convention Center, a larger space which allows for 58 prestigious dealers.*
New this year will be three interior designer rooms, sponsored by 1stDibs, created by local interior designers. The three concepts are intended to inspire attendees about how to incorporate antiques into their homes, and will use pieces drawn from different exhibitors:
August Interiors – Entranced: Attract, Cause to be Enamored. "A grand entryway to a newly decorated pre-war apartment is inspired by fashion, color-blocking, metals, materials and antiques. This entry serves as the central introduction to the rooms that expand beyond providing a glimpse into this client’s unique point of view while creating livability, believability and a bit of fantasy."
Eberlein Design Consultants, Ltd. – A Contemporary Aerie in Penn’s “Greene Countrie Towne”. "A room welcoming lounging, dining, reading and entertaining set in a contemporary Philadelphia high-rise, eager for a couple to breathe new life into the room by expressing their passion, both new and seasoned, for collecting antiques in a unique way."
Wein Interiors – Old and New Collide. "A casual informal living room designed for a family with young children in need of a space to retreat or serve as an excellent space to host guests. By mixing fabulous antiques with new pieces, the room tells a story, and has a patina and history that would otherwise not exist in a space full of pieces that are shiny and new.”
The lecture series, free with admission, includes presentations by decorator Thomas Jayne and Morrison H. Heckscher, the chairman of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
