San Francisco–based designer Noz Nozawa is known for adorning interiors with vibrant colors, happy patterns and statement pieces. She adorns herself, however, with lots of bling. Stacks of bangles, layers of necklaces, copious flights of ear piercings: It’s her signature look—and the biggest influence on her debut designs for Corbett Lighting.

“The whole collection is pretty much inspired by my deep love and passion for jewelry,” said Nozawa at April’s High Point Market (her first!), where she introduced such creations as Riviere, in which vintage gold leaf encircles Ice Onyx disks; Lariat, a series of suspended alabaster tubes dripping with golden strands; and Tragus, a gigantic gem-cut pendant strung from brass mariner’s chains. Comprising 16 pieces across seven style families, the collaboration is the latest addition to Hudson Valley Lighting Group’s luxury Corbett line.

“I love this collection because it’s such a reflection of Noz, bedazzled in gorgeous jewelry, now captured in this magnificent way by Corbett,” said Carisha Swanson, director of editorial special projects for House Beautiful, who joined the designer at Hudson Valley’s High Point showroom to discuss “The Art of Storytelling”—a panel exploring how to infuse interior spaces with individual narratives. The tools to craft those tales include furniture, wallpaper, paint, and perhaps especially lighting.

“It’s such a privilege that we as designers have the opportunity with each of our clients to uncover who they are and translate that into where they live,” said Nozawa. By twining her interests in jewelry and decor, the designer’s own tale continues to develop in intriguing directions.

Nozawa and Swanson touch upon key points of their conversation and spotlight the chandeliers, sconces and pendants of the new Corbett collection in this video from the event:
