Kitchen and bath designer Matthew Quinn has been selected to design House Beautiful’s Kitchen of the Year, a 1,000-square-foot space in Atlanta. The Kitchen of the Year, which is now in its ninth year, is coming to a newly constructed home for the first time. Quinn will design the kitchen for Elizabeth Garvish, an immigration lawyer and mom of eight-month-old twins.

“We’ve had the pleasure of featuring many Matthew Quinn kitchens in House Beautiful, and his ability to create personal, artful kitchens that function flawlessly is unsurpassed,” says Sophie Donelson, the magazine’s editor in chief. “This Kitchen of the Year project is particularly exciting because the kitchen is the heart of a ground-up construction by one of Atlanta’s top builders. It’s a tremendous opportunity to show America the best of kitchen design today.”

The space will include Thermador appliances, AKDO tiles, Ballard Designs home furnishings, Caesarstone countertops, Corbett lighting, CSL lighting, cabinets by Downsview Kitchens, DXV by American Standard sinks, Farrow & Ball paint, Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery, Grohe faucets, Grothouse custom wood countertops, Haiku Home ceiling fans, Hudson Valley lighting, Matthew Quinn Collection hardware, Napoleon fireplaces, Panasonic vent fans, Room & Board furniture, Thibaut fabrics and wallcoverings, Troy lighting and Woodard outdoor furniture.

“We’ve truly customized this year’s House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year from the ground up,” says Quinn. “The kitchen is designed with beautiful elements that I myself use on a daily basis, and the space represents my ultimate vision for the homeowner and her sons—it’s durable, easy to clean, and brings the family together in the home, all while evoking a sense of serenity and splendor.”

The project will be open to the public May 14 to 15 and will be featured in the October 2016 issue of House Beautiful, on newsstands in late September. Learn more.
