Rafael de Cárdenas: Architecture at Large By Rafael de Cárdenas
Chronicling his firm’s first 10 years, Rafael de Cárdenas’s first tome showcases his residential work, as well as restaurants, art galleries and luxury shops he designed. He is a trained architect, but spent the beginning of his career as a fashion designer for CALVIN KLEIN, and then a production designer, before opening his namesake firm. (Rizzoli)

In her second book, Victoria Hagan showcases how she utilizes both old and new design elements to create elegant interiors. Dream Spaces features a New York City penthouse, a Nantucket beach house and a Western ranch, among other projects. She often points to the unexpected details in her designs, which add something special to the room. (Rizzoli)

House Beautiful Style Secrets: What Every Room Needs By Sophie Donelson
What does every room need? The magazine's editor in chief Sophie Donelson ventures to convey just that in her book, debuting this September. Her insights are organized in response to that question. Among the must-haves are a splash of color (chapter 1), a "grand gesture," like an oversized vase or enormous Chippendale mirror, (chapter 3) and "glitter and gleam" (chapter 4).

But the book is just as much about what Donelson calls, in her foreword, "ideas to try, not just things to buy," with a focus that's more on creating an atmosphere than making specific purchases. (Abrams)

London-based interior designer Tara Bernerd is known from bring character and warmth to her interiors, creating a sense of "place." In her monograph, she illustrates how she combines new and old, organic and industrial, and high and low in her interiors. Photography showcases projects spanning beach villas and urban apartments, as well as designs from her own home. (Rizzoli)
