Designers gathered on September 16 for a cocktail reception hosted by New York Cottages & Gardens to celebrate nonprofit Hope Lodge NYC, which provides no-cost housing for cancer patients and their caregivers receiving treatment in Manhattan. The designers also met with Hope Lodge residents to collect inspiration for their upcoming Holiday Bash tablescape designs; each of the tablescapes, premiering at the seventh annual Holiday Bash Gala dinner on December 8 at the Harmonie Club, will represent the home country or city of the residents.

Notable guests included Sandy and Ronald Diamond, co-chairs of the Seventh Annual Holiday Bash; Guillaume Gentet and David G. Carpenter, co-chairs of the Bash; Barbara Viteri of Viteri Style Management, illustrator-author-designer Chesley McLaren and artist Lynx Alexander.

Sherri Hatton, a Hope Lodge resident who is battling multiple myeloma, shared her experience with the guests, and Lainie Jones, a Hope Lodge staff member and give-time cancer survivor, invited designers to a tour of the home.
