Dezeen's Marcus Fairs is offering assistance through Twitter to the thousands of travelers currently stranded in Milan after the furniture fair, The Salone Internazionale del Mobile, due to the volcanic ash cloud.

Fairs is posting regular travel updates and helpful information such as "British Consulate bus Milan-London today 3pm for UK citizens £130" or ""Three Royal Navy ships on way to collect stranded Brits" is tweeted regularly.

Travelers may also tweet Marcus their experiences, tips and requests. One wayward traveler tweeted "stuck in Milan....no way out. we 're thinking of walking back to Athens. our flight was canceled once again!"

Modus Furniture kindly offered to give someone a lift in their van: "Londoners stuck in Milan, @modusfurniture have some places in their van driving back tomorrow."

Fairs himself was stuck until yesterday when a rep from Talk PR, a London PR agency, helped him get home yesterday. He tweeted "Very special thanks to @talkpr for helping me get home yesterday and @jenvoyce for being such good company en route."
