Thousands of interior designers, bloggers, editors and design enthusiasts made their way to Los Angeles’ La Cienega Design Quarter (LCDQ) earlier this month for the sixth annual LEGENDS event, which featured two days of parties, panels and product introductions—as well as 56 designer window displays.

“I’ve attended Legends since day one,” said Ruth Tooker, Los Angeles advertising director of Architectural Digest. “This year, I saw first class events jam packed with A-list designers, true design enthusiasts, and amazing window installations by really amazing designers. This has really grown into a massive design event that drives business and awareness for the design community.”

Each year, LEGENDS embraces an overarching theme that is expressed in the windows of shops and member showrooms of the La Cienega Design Quarter. For this year’s theme being NOVEL INTERIORS: Storytelling by Design, top designers were invited to transform the windows of the LCDQ members’ storefronts inspired by books and stories.

Here’s a look at some of the windows:

Oliver M. Furth's "In Search of Lost Time" window design at Waterworks

Christian May's "One Thousand and One Nights" at Woven Accents

Tristan Butterfield's "A Passage to India" at Scalamandre

“LCDQ has become the event in the design industry,” said interior designer Timothy Corrigan, who designed a window. “Designers from all across the country descend upon this wonderful stretch of Los Angeles, filled with some of the best shops and merchandise around. The windows, events and sense of collaboration make this an event that everyone wants to be a part of."

Guests were also invited inside showrooms to view the latest collections and listen in on discussions with interior designers such as Madeline Stuart, Nathan Turner, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Sophia Bush, Kerry Joyce, among others.

Mayer Rus, West Coast editor of Architectural Digest led a discussion all about glamour in interior design. "I thought glamour was an ideal topic for an event called Legends,” he said. “After much discussion, we decided that while it helps to have money and perhaps a Warhol portrait of yourself, glamour can't exist unless a person possesses truly inspired, idiosyncratic taste and vision."

Throughout the three-days of events, attendees were also invited to numerous cocktail parties including the official Opening Night Gala and the Architectural Digest party at Jasper, as well as private events put on by the Design Leadership Network and Scalamandré.

“I am grateful for the creative energy of the Los Angeles community as well as the involvement and support from the global design community at large,” said LCDQ President Lee Stanton. “We are proud to be an epicenter of the design community and look forward to raising the bar even further in 2015.”
