“We began this project with a clear goal of showcasing the many ways design can positively affect the health and well-being of employees while boosting resource efficiency,” says Randy Fiser, president at ASID. “At ASID, we believe in research-based results in design and placed an emphasis on third-party validation of the space.”

The WELL rating system addresses seven categories: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind. These categories take into consideration the actual design and operations of the building, as well as how those designs impact human behaviors. While the LEED rating system gives buildings scores based on their sustainability, water and energy use, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Some of the design features that helped the building qualify for these ratings include sound masking systems, a circadian lighting system, a wellness room, and sitting and standing options at workstations. The office also provides fresh fruit and vegetables.
