On October 11, The Shade Store and Veranda hosted designers from the Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland area for a celebration and signing of At Home in the
South, the newest book from Veranda, featuring a foreword by editor in chief
Steele Marcoux. Taking place in The Shade Store’s Georgetown location, the event welcomed designers including Zoë Feldman, Iantha Carley, Melissa Colgan, Lorna Gross and Mary Jo Major, who spent the evening mingling, enjoying passed bites and cocktails and browsing the expansive product offerings in the showroom, followed by a book signing by Marcoux.
“Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area has such a wonderful and enthusiastic design community,” said Michael Crotty, chief marketing officer at The Shade Store. “We were thrilled to host this talented group in our showroom to celebrate Steele’s new book in partnership with Veranda. It’s been a few years since we hosted an event in the area and it was great to meet new designers and reconnect with old friends.”
“It was a pleasure to be with many of the great design talents in the Washington
area,” said Marcoux. “We’re grateful to The Shade Store for hosting a beautiful event and
gathering local trade professionals for a lovely evening.”
“We’re excited about Veranda’s new book release, and as always we appreciate
our valued partners at The Shade Store for helping to raise awareness for it in the
community,” said David Hamilton, vice president of sales for the Hearst Design Collection.
