On October 18, in the heart of San Francisco’s Union Square, Australian lifestyle brand Coco Republic celebrated the opening of its first ever U.S. flagship store. Coco Republic creative director Anthony Spon-Smith hosted the event alongside U.S. president of Coco Republic Skye Westcott, founder and managing partner of Story3 Capital Partners Peter Comisar and global chief executive officer of Coco Republic Eric Bauer. The afternoon was filled with light bites, drinks, music and creative company.
Comprising three floors and more than 40,000 square feet, the instantly iconic space displayed 2,000-plus products, which guests explored while sipping custom mocktails by Lyres, an Australian brand known for its high-quality, nonalcoholic beverages. The drinks added to the ultimate Australian atmosphere.
“The U.S. has always had a home at the heart of Coco Republic’s DNA and mine in particular,” said Spon-Smith. “Over the past 10 years, I’ve been concentrating on designing and developing our own unique range, influenced by the Californian lifestyle. There are very distinct synergies, I feel, in the way Californians and Australians live. A lifestyle that is light on its feet, casually cool and connected to nature binds us subconsciously, and our design ethos resonates.”
