On Monday, June 10, BOH Insiders made a visit to Twenty2 Wallpaper + Textile’s brand-new design studio and manufacturing facility in Naugatuck, Connecticut. During this immersive experience, they witnessed the step-by-step process of transforming original fine art into digital repeat patterns. Twenty2 co-founder Kyra Hartnett led everyone through a presentation on the intricate artistry involved in creating colorways and digitally printing wallpaper and textiles all while maintaining uncompromising quality control. Watercolor artist Caitlin McGauley shared how she collaborates with Twenty2 to bring her artwork to life. Insiders toured the impressive facility, observing each department involved in the process, and gained hands-on experience by creating their own unique colorways of a McGauley pattern. While the attendees enjoyed lunch, these customized patterns were printed as wallpaper and textile samples to serve as keepsakes of the memorable day.
“This field trip had it all,” said designer Caroline Kopp of Caroline Kopp Interior Design, who attended the event. “It was chock-full of deep learning on how digital wallpaper and textiles are made, interactive projects, networking opportunities, amazing swag that included an original piece of artwork, and even a delicious lunch! I loved this inspiring day, and it was well worth the time taken away from the office.”
“Twenty2 is on the cutting edge of the digital printing revolution that is transforming the wallcovering industry,” said Business of Home’s Dennis Scully. “It was a spectacular day and exemplified the access and insight we want to bring to our BOH Insiders.”
