What’s the inspiration behind the new collection?
Dornbracht’s iconic MEM series has shaped three decades of architectural history, and we wanted to celebrate it with an exciting new way of incorporating a confident, elemental and pure design aesthetic.
How did the collaboration come about?
Nature Squared is a pioneering, Swiss-based, ethical design brand that transforms natural materials that would normally be considered waste into bespoke, hand-crafted products. We chose to partner with the company because of our shared commitment to quality and sustainability and a desire to create unique and luxurious products that bring the beauty of nature into the home.
What was the starting point for this collection?
Craftsmanship and a pioneering approach to sustainability play a crucial role at Dornbracht and Nature Squared, so the collaboration between our two companies was a logical step.
What piece are you most excited to unveil?
It’s impossible to choose one, which is why we are offering seven different MEM handle designs in a variety of finish options. That being said, if I must choose, my personal favorite would be the mother-of-pearl handles with a Platinum finish. I think it’s a very modern and subtle combination.
How do you feel this collection pushes the brand forward?
By combining environmental aims with outstanding design quality, artistry and craftsmanship, the collection is one of many building blocks that make a clear statement about Dornbracht’s commitment to aesthetics and sustainability.
How does the collection build on or complement your other offerings?
Dornbracht is well-known for offering a wide variety of options in terms of different finishes and product variations. Our “x-tra” service department has been accommodating custom-made requests for more than 70 years! Being able to add these exclusive, amazing, custom MEM handles to our assortment will bring even more individuality to our clients’ bathroom designs.
What about the collection feels fresh and exciting?
Nature Squared combines traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to capture the beauty of materials that are not endangered, protected or threatened. Sourcing predominantly from industries such as farming and fishing, the brand transforms what would normally be considered waste into stylish and unique designs.
Tell us about the materials in this collection. Are there certain materials used throughout and/or a material that is a highlight on a particular piece?
All products are made from either crushed seashells or eggshells, which are then incorporated into MEM handles, available in Chrome, Brushed Chrome, Platinum, Brushed Dark Platinum and Brushed Durabrass finishes.
How do you envision designers using this collection?
The collection is available worldwide to architects, designers and stylists looking to add a distinctive touch to their projects while meeting the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility.
Can the collection be customized? What kind of options are possible?
Yes, the collection features seven materials and five finishes, offering designers more than 30 options to choose from. Designers can choose between the textured patterns Dark Pen Mars, Black, Hatchet Shell Gaya, White, Mussel Shell Gaya, Blue and Black Agate Ariel, all of which are made from seashells.
