Wayfair introduces quick, affordable custom upholstery
By Staff

Online home furnishings retailer Wayfair.com has been hard at work this new year, what with the announcement of its first-ever awards program and a partnership with paint retailer Sherwin-Williams—and it’s not stopping there. The company has now unleashed its own custom upholstery program.

The new program, now live on Wayfair.com, offers customizable options on more than 100 styles of furnishings, all of which are handcrafted in the U.S., ranging in price from $200 to $1,500.

“Traditionally, custom furniture hasn’t been a realistic option for many people due to high prices, limited access and long wait times,” said Niraj Shah, CEO, co-chairman and co-founder of Wayfair. “We are excited to change all of that and redefine what is possible."

Shoppers can now select from dozens of fabrics to put their personal touch on upholstered items, including sofas, loveseats, chairs, ottomans, sectionals, gliders, headboards and beds.

Pieces are available in 12 to 20 fabrics, with new fabrics expected to roll out twice a year. All items are eligible for free three-week shipping.

“The new Wayfair Custom Upholstery program delivers the quality, selection, speed and value that Wayfair is known for,” added Shah, “along with the ability for each shopper to bring their unique style and vision to life.”
