The Kravet Showroom in the Seattle Design Center has expanded to include the new Kravet Lab concept, a space which opened in late October and acts as a working design office as well as an edited showroom, offering boutique-like samplings of Kravet, Lee Jofa, Groundworks and Brunschwig & Fils fabrics.

“We wanted to provide a user-friendly work space for designers by having big work tables and private meetings places so that they can actually work on site and not have to run back to their studios,” said a company representative.

With designers always on the go, often with laptops and bags of samples in tow, the lab provides a place for them to spread out and work, or meet with clients and their staff.

Curated samplings of fabrics are within arm’s reach, with a special focus on textures, velvets, linens, silks and sheers. The lab is also furnished with wireless Internet, a printer, chargers, computer monitors, pin boards and more. A flat screen is enabled with motion detection so designers can browse catalogs virtually with the wave of a hand.

The Seattle location was selected because there was plenty of space to put the lab in place. “We had room to expand and wanted to explore new venues, new ways of shopping the product and introduce a fresher look to our trade,” said a company representative. “Seattle was the perfect fit, and there will hopefully be more to come in 2013."
