The Soho Beach House is set to open in Miami Beach, representing the private club's fifth location, and third in the U.S. Like the West Hollywood and New York locations, Miami Beach club's interiors and architecture are indigenous to the region.
The prewar Sovereign Hotel, originally designed by architect Roy France in 1941 occupies the front of the site, spans out to the beach behind. Architect Allan Shulman restored the hotel and designed a new 15-story tower on the ocean, connecting the two with a courtyard, outdoor terraces, gardens, and a pool.
“I appreciate the projects where we can introduce contemporary pieces that speak more about today’s concerns: sustainability, transparency, amenity and iconography to an historic site,” said Shulman. “I look for a productive way of layering old and new. The layering allows for a feeling of depth, a sense of dialogue with history and the character of the region.”
The building includes 44 rooms and six tower suites, two pools, cabanas, a Cowshed spa, and a Cecconi’s restaurant on the ground floor, which will be open to the public.
