Pierre Frey celebrates its 75th anniversary with an exhibition "Inspiration and Realism of Fabrics" from the company’s archives dating from 1935 to 1955. The exhibition contains 45 examples of textiles, drawings, and paintings, and is influenced by two main artistic styles: Neo-Medievalsim and Surrealism. From the beginning, Founder Pierre Frey worked with many designers, painters, and artists of the time to develop the creative, bold and lively prints that became his legacy. The work of artists such as Jean Chatanay, Janine Janet, Picard Le Doux, Jean-Denis Malcles, and Ken Scott will be featured in the exhibition. The exhibition will kick-off May 12 with a lecture by author, textile historian, and Pierre Frey archivist Sophie Rouart, and will remain in New York through July 30, 2010. Pierre Frey, founded in Paris in 1935, specializes in woven and printed home furnishings textiles. The company’s collections include more than 7,000 references and are available through a worldwide distribution network. Pierre Frey has expanded their collections to include the brands Braquenie, Fadini Borghi and Boussac, and offers a complete lifestyle concept through fabrics, wallpaper, accessories and upholstery.
