Executive editor Dean Baquet announced the end of the New York Times Home & Garden section in a company-wide email Friday, Feb. 27. The rumored but not-wholly-expected move will mean that the section will fold into other shelter-focused parts of the paper. The last edition of Home will run this week.

In the memo, Baquet outlines that this move is a part of the newspaper’s overhaul of its feature sections, saying that “as we pursue this endeavor, I’ve concluded that coverage from the Home section would fit best in other parts of The Times, including Food and Real Estate.”
Baquet went on to praise the leadership of Home Editor Noel Millea, and writers Suzanne Slesin and Penelope Green, while noting the different ways in which the New York Times will be expanding its feature journalism coverage.
