Italian furniture company Natuzzi's new Board of Directors joined with existing Board members to appoint Pasquale Natuzzi Chairman and CEO.

Pasquale Natuzzi to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company this week.

The new Board includes Giuseppe Desantis, General Manager of GTS S.p.A.; Pietro Scott Iovane, CEO of Microsoft Italy; Giuseppe Marino, Professor of Tax Law at the University of Milan; and Andrea Martinelli, COO of Metro Cash & Carry International.

Existing members include Mr. Natuzzi, Anna Maria Natuzzi, Antonia Isabella Perrone, Maurizia Iachino Leto di Priolo and Giuseppe Antonio D’Angelo.

Natuzzi Group operates 11 factories in Italy and around the world (China, Brazil and Romania), with turnover of 515.4 million Euros (as of 31st December 2009) and 6,856 employees.

The son of a cabinet-maker, Mr. Natuzzi opened a workshop in Taranto at age 19 with three collaborators, producing sofas and armchairs for the local market. During a trip to the USA, he spotted an opportunity to democratize the leather sofa—once a product for an elite niche—and set up Natuzzi Upholstery in 1985 in New York. Today, Mr. Natuzzi personally oversees strategic activities relating to strengthening the brand with investments in product innovation and research, marketing, communication and staff training, working alongside the Group’s managers to define future strategies. Mr. Natuzzi was the first international recipient inducted into the American Furniture Hall of Fame.
