Nantucket by Design, led by design chair Maureen Fennessy Bousa, the will celebrate the 38-year history of the August Antiques Show and Antiques & Design Show of Nantucket. The top summer fundraiser for the Nantucket Historical Association, Nantucket by Design will run August 2 to 7 with a lineup of parties and programs, such as a series of fun initiatives hosted in Nantucket’s oldest house, including an August 6 party decorated with vignettes from local designers Trudy Dujardin of Dujardin Design, Donna Elle of Donna Elle Seaside Living, Barbara Halsted of Fenwick House Design, and Michelle Holland of Nantucket House Antiques & Design Studio; a family picnic on August 7; and an exposition of vignettes by New York School of Interior Design students.

“When I ask people what draws them to Nantucket, their immediate response is the island’s beauty and history,” says Bousa. “The NHA’s Nantucket by Design fundraiser celebrates those two cherished qualities through a weeklong series of events highlighting great design across a variety of disciplines. We are excited to be hosting outstanding talent from across the nation and from our own island in the unique settings of NHA properties like the flagship Whaling Museum and the Oldest House.”

Other events include the All-Star Design Panel, on August 4, with Nancy Braithwaite, James Huniford, Juan Montoya, Charles Pavarini, and Suzanne Rheinstein and moderator Susan Zises Green; an Evening of Design with Tom Fazio, the renowned golf course architect; and the Farrow & Ball–sponsored Design Luncheon, featuring John Ike, Thomas A. Kligerman and Joel Barkley of Ike Kligerman Barkley.

“Nantucket by Design builds upon the best of our previous 38 years of summer fundraisers,” says Janet Sherlund, president of the NHA board of trustees. “We are thrilled to bring our events back downtown and feature our iconic NHA properties during this week of inspiring and creative events. The funds we raise are critical to the NHA and allow us to continue our mission of telling the inspiring stories of Nantucket and provide top-notch programs and offerings to Nantucketers and visitors all year long!”
