The Kips Bay Decorator Show House Committee today announced that planning is underway for its first-ever pop up store that will sell hundreds of items ranging from antiques and art to home furnishings and designer and vintage clothing. The store will be located at 207 East 57th Street in Manhattan and will be open from May 19 to 23. The Pop Up Store will help the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club recoup some of the much needed-funds that were lost when the annual Show House, which was planned for this spring, had to be postponed to fall. The Kips Bay Decorator Show House raises approximately $1 million annually for the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, a non-profit organization that provides essential after-school and enrichment programs for thousands of young people in New York. Included in the sale will be a number of items including Art Deco and Arts & Crafts furniture, signed Schlumberger for Tiffany gold earrings, Royal Copenhagen china, antique Chinese lacquer trays, Henredon nightstands, handmade oriental rugs and Fortuny fabric. All of the items were donated by top designers, antiques dealers, vendors and private donors.

Daniel Quintero, executive director of Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, says "The outpouring of support from design community has been tremendous and touching. Now we are asking for the public’s support of our Pop Up Store so that we may carry on our important work in behalf of our young club members."

Pop Up Insider, a company that specializes in scouting and securing pop up event locations throughout New York, donated its services to locate a space for the Kips Bay Shop, and Samson Management LLC’s Chairman Arnold Goldstein has donated the use of the East 57th Street property.

The pop-up store's opening night party will take place May 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. The sale will continue free and open to the public:

·        Thursday, May 20 and Friday, May 21 from noon to 8 p.m.

·        Saturday, May 22 and Sunday May 23, noon to 6 p.m.

Kips Bay continues reviewing properties for this fall’s Decorator Show House and will announce a new schedule at the end May.
