A University of Cincinnati graduate, Michael-Battaglia completed various competitive internship programs before being hired by California-based RMW Architecture & Interiors, where she worked as a junior designer. She has a strong background in commercial, educational, and cultural projects and experience working in cities including New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and London. Currently, she is the design director at Nemo Tile Company, where her work focuses on showroom and layout design. She has also taught interior design courses at the Parsons School of Design and California College of the Arts. “I’m excited to begin my tenure as IIDA NY’s president,” said Michael-Battaglia. “This organization has been a necessary tool for me to connect with so many talented people in the community, elevating my designs and skills, and I look forward to furthering its initiatives.”

Michael-Battaglia is succeeding Rebecca Dorris Steiger, who reflected, “Being chapter president requires you to represent a diverse community. Katie’s unique background working with so many different designers makes her a perfect fit because she understands all the varying points of view.”
