Last week, the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) honored six architects and designers at its 40th Interior Design Competition during NeoCon.
The Best of Competition award went to HGA Architects and Engineers for the Lakewood Cemetery Garden Mausoleum in Minneapolis, Minn.
“HGA Architects and Engineers’ design solution for the Lakewood Cemetery Garden Mausoleum distinguished itself in a field of incredibly vibrant and innovative entries,” said Cheryl S. Durst, IIDA executive vice president and CEO. “The grace with which it seamlessly blends dignity with comfort, beauty with gravity, and the contemplative with the familiar makes us proud to recognize HGA with the 2013 Best of Competition Award.”
The other winning projects are as follows:
Beijing Newsdays Architectural Design Co., Ltd., Beijing, for its entry of the Nanjing Old House Clubhouse in Nanjing, China.
Gensler, New York, for its entry of Calvin Klein Jeans office design in New York City.
MARC FORNES/THEEVERYMANY, Brooklyn, for its entry of the Louis Vuitton – Yayoi Kusama Pop Up Store in London.
The Rockwell Group Europe, Madrid, for its entry of the W Paris-Opera in Paris.
Studio M, Dubai, for its entry of the Index Penthouse in Dubai.
The 2013 judging panel included: David Darling, IIDA, Aidlin Darling Designs; Ray Escheid, Senior Vice President of Store Design and Marketing, Bank of America Corporation; Alessandro Munge, IIDA, Principal and Managing Partner, Munge Leung; Patricia Rotondo, Assoc. IIDA, Assoc. Principal, VOA Associates Incorporated.
The IIDA’S Interior Design Competition was established to celebrate innovative interior design and to encourage new ideas and techniques in the design and furnishing of interior spaces.
