This year's Golden Nugget awards, which recognize architects, developers, builders and land planners, honored a number of projects involving interior designers. The awards, which were founded in 1963 by the national magazine American Builder, are presented yearly by the California Building Industry Association in tandem with the association’s trade show and conference. Today, Builder magazine cosponsors the event, and publishes the award winners, which are culled from the 14 western states.

“Gold Nugget Award winners reflect our industry’s best, brightest and most innovative architects, planners and builder/developers,” said Judging Chairman and Gold Nugget ceremonies administrator Lisa Parrish. “We applaud them all, and were thrilled to recognize them on June 25 with a celebration of Merit and Grand Award winners.”

The Beverlywood Residence won in the Best Renovated/Restored Single House category.

Rachlin Partners, a firm that encompasses interior design, architecture, planning, program management and construction management and is focused on socially responsible architecture, won Grand Honors for its Bonita Center for the Arts project, as well as Best Educational Project and Best Renovated or Restored Single House distinctions for its Beverlywood Residence. The awards also honored a number of categories, including Best Custom Home, which, in the 4,000- to 8,000-square-foot category, recognized a La Jolla, CA, mountain contemporary home designed by Denton House Design Studio with Think Architecture, Inc. Other categories included Best on the Boards Custom Home, Best Renovated or Restored Single House, Best Mixed Use Project, Best Multifamily Housing, and a wide array of other residential, commercial and industrial projects.
