The Midwest design scene is thriving, and the Indiana Design Center (IDC) is at its core.

Now open for two years, the IDC includes two floors of showrooms: the first floor is open to the public and design professionals while the second floor sells to the trade only.

It is 98% leased, with 11 retail showrooms, four to the trade showrooms, two artist studios and 13 design firm studios—and home to 35 local Indiana businesses.

Indiana has a very active and engaged community of design professionals, according to Andrea Kleymeyer, Marketing Director for the IDC.

“Many professionals are a part of local ASID and IIDA chapters, and there are also more than 10 collegiate programs in the state that teach the practice of interior design,” said Kleymeyer.

Showrooms have seen a pick-up in demand for professional design services in the Indianapolis metropolitan area.

“The design center showrooms and services serve as resources for many projects in Indianapolis and the surrounding suburbs, and each design firm located in the center is among the top professionals in the state” said Kleymeyer.

The largest to-the-trade showrooms hold accounts with over 300 design professionals.

Designer Resource Library

The design center provides conference rooms, workspaces, event programming and a resource library. The newest resource is the Designer on Call program, which connects consumers with a design professional who can help with a design project or showroom purchase.

A Designer on Call appointment includes a complimentary 50-minute consultation to discuss a project or to help purchase items from the showrooms.

“I am excited for the launch of Designer On Call and I look forward to connecting individuals with an interior designer that can assist them in creating a home that truly reflects their personality and lifestyle,” said Susie Keller, Concierge and Designer-On-Call coordinator.

Interior Designer Barry Lantz has seen a consistent need for design services over the years. “Being present in the building has helped my business to grow,” he said. “The energy the building provides and being somewhere everyone is one the same page is inspirational, the networking and marketing opportunities are endless.”

The Indiana Design Center continues to grow, change and bring the best to design professionals in the area.
