California Home+Design has chosen Hollywood for the venue of its debut showhouse called “Small Space Big Style,” debuting in September. The showhouse will be on the penthouse level of the Hollywood Condos—a 54-unit modern residential complex designed by award-winning architect Stephen Kanner. “Small Space Big Style” will feature the work of seven Los Angeles designers who will explore the relationships between space, style and innovation within the 1,400-square-foot penthouse. It will be open to the public Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from September 14-November 18, 2012.
"Instead of simply communicating the beauty of design, as so many other showhouses have done, we wanted to celebrate the power of design. In this case, the power to make a small space livable, luxurious and utterly stylish,” says Erin Feher, California Home+Design’s executive editor. “We wrangled the very best designers in Los Angeles and asked them to not only bring in the prettiest and most avant-garde pieces, but to also do what they do best: think about each space and design it in an innovative way that would inspire all those who experience it to think differently about design and its awesome potential." The location also reflects the continued, and even growing interest in urban living.
Proceeds from ticket sales ($20 admission) will benefit the A+D Architecture and Design Museum > Los Angeles.
