American Committee designers toast Masterpiece London

In anticipation of Masterpiece London on June 27, the inaugural American Committee gathered at Susan Gutfreund's Upper East Side apartment to toast show organizers and hear the highlights of this year's show.

This year, visitors will be greeted by an splendid stone sculpture, Island, by Anish Koopor exhibited by Piano Nobile, contrasting with a rare limited-edition aluminium cast of Eros by Sir Alfred Gilbert exhibited by the Fine Art Society and which will dominate Scott’s Oyster bar.

In this special year of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee, a selling exhibition of diamonds curated by Carol Woolton, the jewelery editor of Vogue. It will include a holographic portrait of Her Majesty by Chris Levine encrusted with diamonds and an ashoka-cut 31carat D flawless diamond which will be set in a headpiece designed by Philip Treacy.

The Gagosian Gallery has completed a project especially for the Fair,  and a marvelous group of bespoke Harley Davidson motorcycles will be offered.  Sigelson will be showing magnificent estate jewelery and Based Upon, their  extraordinary ‘biographical’ etched steel maps, furniture and objects.

Clovis Whitfield will be exhibited as well as a newly-discovered, fully authenticated Caravaggio. And on the Terrace—where ice cream will be served—a group of extraordinary sculptural works in the manner of Arcimboldo by Philip Haas will be shown by Robilant Voena.

Swarovksi will have a display demonstrating their broadening of interest in this area. Hemmerli will be bringing both 20th-century jewelery and works made specifically for Masterpiece.

Candy and Candy, property developers to the international wealthy, will be showing their new approach to design, and Jamie Drake, who will create a room-setting incorporating his signature look of stylish sophistication.
