AD Home Design Show spotlights women, custom offerings

The 14th annual Architectural Digest Home Design Show will be the biggest presentation yet, with two locations, expansions to popular areas and the inclusion of international presenters. Open to both the design trade and consumers, the show will run from March 19 to 22 at New York City Piers 92 and 94, 55th Street and Twelfth Avenue, alongside DIFFA’s DINING BY DESIGN exhibition, which will be located at Pier 92.

With the addition of MADE, the AD Home Design Show takes a look at the world of one-of-a-kind, custom and limited-edition objects and furnishings, from a national and international selection of artists and designers. This year’s presentation will feature 69 new artists, and more than 30 business that are women-owned or -run. Additionally, the Los Angeles contingent at MADE has been expanded, and will include Eric Trine, Parachute Home, Wolfum, 100xbtr, Brendan Ravenhill, Ria Leigh, Elyse Graham, BROOK&LYN, Mimi Jung and Lewis Mauk.

The show will also include exhibitions by 400+ luxury home brands, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to artisanal studios, and including international offerings from the Netherlands, Turkey, Italy and France. Patrons will also be able to attend more than a dozen panels and talks by experts in 21st-century design, including the New York Times Design Series. The keynote presentation will be given by Architectural Digest Editor in Chief Margaret Russell.

The Furniture & Furnishings section will cover a wider range of cotemporary and classic furniture, lighting, textiles and more. This year’s exhibitors include Dorya USA, The Future Perfect, Hubbardton Forge, Valitalia, and others. The show also features North America’s largest collection of luxury bath, kitchen and building products. The 130 brands represented showcase kitchen appliances, cabinetry, hard surfaces, lighting, windows and doors, and more. New exhibitors include Bauformat, Rohl, and Visser Closets.

Rising interior designers Caleb Anderson and Young Huh have created vignettes using products from online consignment marketplace Viyet.com in the Benjamin Moore booth.

Additional show amenities will include two show lounges, gourmet food vendors, and SHOPS, a retail area with items that can be purchased on the spot.

reFRESH, Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet

The show will open Thursday, March 19 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., strictly for Design Trade members and VIP Consumer Ticket Holders. Tickets are complimentary for trade members who register online (pending two forms of professional credentials) and include a one-year digital subscription to Architectural Digest. On-site tickets are $40. VIP Consumer tickets are $95. These include access to Design Trade Day, a gift bag, a one-year digital subscription to Architectural Digest, and admission to a cocktail reception.

The show will be open to the public Friday and Saturday, March 20 to 21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets can be bought online for $30 and include a one-year digital subscription to Architectural Digest, or at the door for $40. 

All tickets are good for re-entry throughout the duration of the show, and include access to DIFFA’s DINING BY DESIGN table viewing at Pier 92. A portion of ticket sale proceeds will benefit DIFFA. More information, including hotel and travel discounts are available online.
