Kravet and NYC&G (New York Cottages & Gardens) magazine are collaborating on a showhouse to provide accommodations to the 1,000+ families served by the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island (RMH-LI). The original designer of RMH-LI, Anthony Baratta of Anthony Baratta LLC will serve as Creative Director of the project.

Participating designers include Amanda Nisbet, Anthony Baratta, Bunny Williams, Danielle Colding, Kerry Delrose, Jamie Drake, Drew McGukin, Dwell Studio, Elaine Griffin, Eric Cohler, Kate Singer, Kim E. Courtney, Mabley Handler, Margreet Cevasco, Mathew Patrick Smyth, Meg Braff, Jennifer Mehditash, Michael Herold, Michael Tavano, Jon Call, Nick Olsen, Pappas Miron, Suzanne Costa, Vasi Ypsilantis, Tilton Fenwick, and Young Huh.

Participating designers recently attended a Designer Kick-Off Luncheon at the House. From left: Kerry Delrose, Marianne Howatson, Anthony Baratta and Erick Espinoza.

“There are two underlying goals of this project,” said Matthew Campo, Executive Director of RMH-LI. “The first is to update the rooms to better comfort our families, and the second is to treat this as our biggest fundraising initiative of the year.”

“The organization’s commitment not only to transformative and life saving care, but also to the environment in which the healing takes place, created the perfect opportunity for Kravet to get involved," said Kravet President Cary Kravet.  "The goal of Project Design 2013 is to provide each family in need of supportive housing all the comforts of home – plus a local support network – so they can fully focus on the healing of their child, in addition to raising much needed funds to support ongoing operations at RMH-LI.”

“Without RMH-LI, families would be forced to sleep in the hospital lobby, a child’s hospital room, or even their cars, as most families cannot afford a hotel for weeks or months on end – especially under the financial stress of mounting medical bills," said Kendell Cronstrom, Editor-in-Chief of NYC&G. "We encourage the community to strongly consider getting involved in this exciting opportunity and leaving a legacy for future families in need. This project makes the House’s mission so tangible.”

The culmination of the RMH-LI Project Design 2013 will be celebrated with a Designer Showcase Gala on October 10th. The evening will include an exclusive tour of the newly designed areas, unique silent auction opportunities, light entertainment, fine dining, cocktails, and more. On Friday, October 11th and Saturday, October 12th, an open house will take place from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Community members are invited to tour the new rooms for a donation fee of $25. Students are invited at a reduced rate of $10.
