San Francisco based SAY Media this morning announced its acquisition of design blog Remodelista (also based in SF), with the intention of adding to its growing portfolio of "authentic" online media brands. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Remodelista founder Julie Carlson.

Why Remodelista? “The formula is to find people really connected to the community where they have a real authentic point of view,” said Troy Young, president of Say Media in a report by DigiDayDaily. He said the company would acquire 40-50 sites over the next few years, while launching an undetermined number of its own.

Launched four years ago by Julie Carlson, Remodelista draws 175,000 visitors per month. The Remodelista editorial team defines itself as "a group of friends who share eerily similar design sensibilities; a collective design DNA. We care (OK, we care a lot) about interiors. We wake up in the middle of the night to bid on Thonet dining chairs; we page through stacks of design magazines every month."

SAY Media began September 2005 with $33.9 million in funding. The company enables advertisers to engage today’s social consumer through rich content experiences while helping creators monetize their work and grow their audience. Through a  collection of influential creators, passion-based communities and engaging sites, SAY Media delivers brand messages to an online audience of 400 million across both display and mobile.
