For What’s New, What’s Next 2023 at the New York Design Center on September 20, The Rug Company hosted House Beautiful editorial director Joanna Saltz alongside three designers from the magazine’s Next Wave Class of 2023: Ahmad AbouZanat, Melissa Colgan and Evan Millárd. Saltz led a lively conversation exploring the three talents’ innovative principles and the core curriculums of their design firms. The panel also shared their must-have product qualities, smart sourcing tips and timeless statement pieces.
In attendance at the event were more than 150 guests, including Robert Rufino, Christina Kim, Michel Smith Boyd, DuVäl Reynolds, Erin Fetherston, Suzanne Cooper, Katie Brockman, Kaitlin Petersen of Business of Home and Rayman Boozer of Apartment 48.
“It’s always great to connect with designers and House Beautiful Next Wavers about the importance of quality craftsmanship—and the unique value those statement pieces bring to a space,” said Saltz. “But it’s also great to have drinks and a few laughs with industry friends in The Rug Company’s spectacular showroom.”
