On Sunday, April 14, during High Point Market, Business of Home hosted a select group of leading home retailers for a dinner at JH Adams Inn to discuss emerging trends in e-commerce and what challenges the current home retail marketplace faces. The conversation touched on the trickiness of tiered pricing, the shock effect of retail shrinkage and shifting distribution profiles, and online platform usage in B2C strategy as an alternative to physical storefronts.
Industry leaders including Russ Barnes of Wildwood, Rohan Blacker of Pooky, Matthew Briggs of Four Hands, Nathan Copeland of Highland House, Andrew Crone of Chaddock, Laura Holland of Hickory Chair, Nidhi Kapur of Maiden Home, Neil MacKenzie of Universal Furniture, Leib Oehmig of Glen Raven, Steve Sechrest of Cococo Home, Alex Shuford of Rock House Farm and Satya Tiwari of Surya enjoyed the productive discourse led by the host of The Business of Home Podcast, Dennis Scully.
“I am grateful to the impressive array of business leaders who took time out of their busy Market schedules to join us for a frank and lively discussion about the rapidly shifting selling environment they are all confronting,” said Scully. “My thanks to BigCommerce for making what I hope will be the first of many such events possible.”
“Many home furnishings retailers have built custom e-commerce solutions to address the nuanced challenges their businesses face, from inventory management to product customization to B2B2C selling,” said Nathan Turner, director of mid-market sales at BigCommerce. “However, custom solutions can be costly and time-intensive. Thankfully, SaaS platforms like BigCommerce are here to solve the problems online shopping has posed and enable brands to deliver extraordinary customer experiences.”
