Bernhardt, House Beautiful and Forbes Masters celebrate Designers in Residence
On October 15 during Fall Hight Point Market, the third iteration of Bernhardt’s iconic Designer in Residence showcased a cutting-edge vision of the future as foreseen by the dynamic duo of Forbes Masters.
Based in Atlanta, Tavia Forbes and Monet Masters are known for their contemporary, unique and compelling interiors. In keeping with their trademark boldly eclectic style, they conceived of a future-forward, modernistic interpretation of Bernhardt’s creative legacy, presenting a prophetic aesthetic that pushed beyond the ordinary and prioritized design excellence.
The professional partners’ imaginative take on the Bernhardt gallery was inspired by Fhloston Paradise, a luxe tropical resort featured in the movie The Fifth Element(!). Bold color and a mélange of patterns conjured up a moody, layered look in an entry, lounge and bedroom. The four elements of earth, water, fire and air were represented, as was the duo’s own variation on the magical “fifth element”—a female-centric future.
The stunning otherworldly spaces were celebrated with a launch event that included a high-energy DJ, food and drinks inspired by the movie, and an opportunity to be featured on the “cover” of House Beautiful, the event’s co-host. One lucky designer also won a trip to Paris—the city where Forbes Masters first met Bernhardt’s creative team. House Beautiful’s editor in chief Joanna Saltz and director of editorial special projects Carisha Swanson helped Bernhardt’s president and CEO Alex Bernhardt Jr. welcome more than 700 guests.
“Designer in Residence was created as a way for us to offer a tribute to great design,” said Bernhardt. “Tavia and Monet are so talented and innovative, and their concept for our gallery is incredibly forward-thinking and fresh. We were honored to work with them and to host this wonderful event with House Beautiful as an homage to the craft of creative design.”
