Environment, a pioneer in sustainable furniture, launches new products from world-class Italian designers Aldo Cibic and Alessandro La Spada at High Point Market October 17-22. Environment, with Cibic and La Spada, have created pieces taking inspiration from an elegant yet informal lifestyle approach and applying natural processes, proving once again how sustainability, ingenuity and style can fuel one another.

Aldo Cibic started his career as a founding designer of the Memphis Group with Ettore Sottsass. In 1989 he founded his own company ‘Cibic and Partners’ working in Italy and abroad. Cibic is well known for his projects in architecture, interior and industrial design. He teaches in Milan, London and Venice and has designs featured by Bisazza, Mazzega, Artemide and Environment, to name a few.

According to Cibic, “Moral aesthetic confers meaning to design that goes well beyond form.” His Pacifica collection embraces the concept of a relaxed and comfortable lifestyle with a subversive take on the reuse of surplus “shelter-half” military tents, which after having been organically washed, dyed, and softened by time, become unexpectedly original and functional upholstery fabrics.

Alessandro La Spada graduated from the Design Institute in Milan where he now lectures. A designer with the manner of a craftsman, La Spada has spent the past four years concentrating on furniture and upholstery designs, while working as the artistic director of his showroom in Milan.

La Spada’s pieces are modern and refined but rooted in simplistic functionality. He successfully juxtaposes the smoothness and sleekness of glass and the softness of upholstered organic fabrics with the unevenness and rough natural beauty of reclaimed Peroba wood.

“Aldo Cibic is a philosopher, when I met him for the first time I felt an immediate connection with his vision of the world and design which encompasses quality of life, respect for the earth and aesthetics. I found that his vision matched perfectly with our corporate mission. Alessandro La Spada, much like us, is a storyteller who imagines vast scenarios and lifestyles rich in character, context and mood before designing a single piece. He immediately understood the ‘imperfect’ quality of our aesthetic and inspired me with his enthusiasm and volcanic creativity,” said Davide Berruto, CEO of Environment.

Featured in TIME magazine’s list of top 100 green designs, Environment is the leader in the design, marketing and distribution of premium sustainable lifestyle home furnishings and accessories. Both collections will be on display at High Point Market; October 17-22. Environment will be in a new location: IHFC Building-Interhall Space 1H510.
