Modern and contemporary art take center stage in Houston

The Houston Art Fair, which began earlier this week, runs until October 2, featuring 30-plus exhibitors at Silver Street, under the new direction of events company Urban Expositions, which also manages Art Aspen, Art Hamptons and Art Palm Springs.

Among the exhibitors are Arcadia Contemporary, Blue Rain Gallery, Charon Kransen Arts, Chimento Contemporary, Collage Habana, Deborah Colton Gallery, Evan Lurie Gallery, Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery, Gallery Kitai, Galeria Moro, Kips Gallery, Koelsch Gallery, Palette Contemporary Art and CraftProjects+Gallery, Redbud GalleryRen Gallery, TAI Modern and Tansey Contemporary.

Programming at the modern and contemporary art fair includes a video installation from international nonprofit FotoFest; an installation by Alabama Song, a local artist collective; and tours of local homes and the exhibited works, which span ceramics, wood, glass, fiber, studio jewelry and metal, as well as innovative design, painting, photography, sculpture and works on paper.
