Autumn Oser’s resplendent assortment of violet-veined marble, lacquered wood and liquid metal

In the BOH series What I Love, we’re asking designers to build us a mood board of what’s inspiring them right now.

Autumn Oser
Autumn Oser Jason Varney

Autumn Oser strives to create rooms with soul. The principal designer at Haldon House—the Philadelphia-area firm she co-founded with husband Andre Golsorkhi—balances sophisticated silhouettes with natural materials and hues to make spaces feel lushly layered and enveloping.

Inspired by the idea of a personal study connected to a primary bedroom, she used a medley of rich, pigmented earth tones, ranging from burnt caramel to burgundy, to evoke a calming mood for her flat lay. “Color-saturated spaces feel more immersive,” she says.

A sleek selection of metallic finishes, such as a shiny silver-plated ceramic vase, adds a touch of sheen to the palette, while weightier accents, including a solid marble table lamp, bring depth and dimension to the scheme. “A well-balanced blend of masculine and feminine elements is key to making the study feel soulful and intimate, and giving it a lived-in quality,” says Oser.

Here, the designer breaks down the details, from a travertine book stand to a leather magazine rack.
