This past Wednesday, The Museum of the City of New York honored Jacques Grange and Ralph Pucci with City of Design Awards at its Spring Symposium & Luncheon, the annual event where past speakers have included design leaders Gloria Vanderbilt, Jamie Drake, Peter Pennoyer, Miles Redd, Bunny Williams, William T. Georgis and Alexa Hampton. Grange has decorated the homes of New Yorkers Ronald Lauder, Aerin Lauder and Valentino and designed for The Mark Hotel and Paloma Picasso’s showroom. His other notable clients include Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, Princess Caroline of Monaco, Alain Ducasse, François Pinault, Robert Agostinelli and Karl Lagerfeld. Ralph Pucci is a celebrated designer of mannequins, lighting and furniture, and winner of the Markopoulis Award, the visual merchandising industry’s highest honor.

The award, which debuted last year, honors “creative entrepreneurs who have made New York the design capital of the world and who inspire future generations of designers to bring their talents to our great city,” and last year recognized Jonathan Adler and Simon Doonan. The event took place at the New York Academy of Medicine, across the street from the museum.

The symposium’s honorary chair was Elizabeth Farran Tozer, and co-chairs included Lisa Abel, Elizabeth Belfer, Michael Bruno, Nathalie Comfort, Cynthia Foster Curry, Mark Ferguson, Barbara J. Fife, Deban Flexner, Laura Lofaro Freeman, Nellie Gipson, Leslie Godridge, Lorna Goodman, Elizabeth Graziolo, Jim Hanley, Sylvia Hemingway, Sharon Jacob, Elizabeth Kahane, Milla Lozanova, Elizabeth R. Miller, Tracey Pontarelli, Kathy Prounis, Jacqueline Sackler, Oscar Shamamian, Ann Spence, Katie Tozer and Monica Voldstad.
