What’s the inspiration behind the new collection?
The Sacred Symbols collection is inspired by an exploration of the symbolism found in traditional rug-making. We wanted to curate a collection that connects people to their roots, to an emotion, offering not just a decorative item, but a piece that truly means something. It’s about creating an emotional connection to the materials being brought into the home.

What was the starting point for this collection?
The starting point was the historical and cultural significance of symbols woven into rugs. This has been done for centuries. We drew inspiration from the stories and the spiritual messages embedded in each design. Our team spent a great deal of time researching ancient rug-making traditions, analyzing how symbols were used to convey status, heritage and emotional connection. This research allowed us to curate a collection that honors our commitment to craftsmanship while breathing new life into the stories these rugs represent.

What piece are you most excited to unveil?
All of the rugs in this collection carry deep meaning, but one standout piece is Liberty. Hand-knotted and designed by artisans from rural India, this rug tell a story that I fell in love with. The flower motif is a tribute to an artist’s cherished memory of a wedding gift—a flowerpot given by a dear friend. Though they now live in different villages, the memory of that friendship lingers, beautifully woven into the rug. The wavy, hazy patterns, known as leheriya, are inspired by the fluid movements of the weavers’ hands when they are deeply in sync with the rhythm of their work.  The uneven textures and motifs—inspired by the mountains of Rajasthan, the texture of leopard skin, and the leaves that surround the artisans’ villages—add character to this piece. To the artisan designer (and to us), this isn’t just a rug; it’s a tapestry of stories and traditions, woven with care and dedication.

How do you feel this collection pushes the brand forward?
This collection pushes the brand forward by deepening our commitment to storytelling through design. Sacred Symbols reinforces our dedication to preserving ancient techniques and showcases our ability to innovate within those traditions. It offers a more profound emotional connection to our products, inviting our customers to not just buy a rug, but to connect with a piece of history. 

How does the collection build on or complement your other offerings?
Sacred Symbols complements our existing offerings by building on our tradition of honoring craftsmanship, quality and cultural preservation. While we’ve always focused on rugs that tell a story, this collection goes a step further by diving into the deeper meanings. 

What about the collection feels fresh and exciting?
Innovation isn’t always about creating something new from the ground up. For us, keeping our product point of view fresh includes consistently looking at our past to redefine our future. Rugs tell so many stories, connecting people to their shared heritage and allowing each of us to find individual meaning. We honor the centuries-old craft, the symbolic art of handmade rugs, and the deep meaning they provide to the spaces they grace. What’s fresh and exciting about this collection is the intentional focus on symbolism as a key design element. We’ve created rugs that are not only visually striking, but also offer layers of meaning, allowing people to engage with them in a personal way. The designs have a contemporary elegance, but they’re rooted in ancient traditions.

Tell us about the materials in this collection. Are there certain materials used throughout, and/or a material that is a highlight on a particular piece?
The materials in this collection are carefully chosen to honor both sustainability and craftsmanship. We focus on natural, renewable fibers such as wool, which have been traditional materials in rug-making for centuries. 

How do you envision designers using this collection?
Designers will be inspired to use this collection as both a foundation and a statement in their spaces. The intricate symbolism in each rug allows designers to create rooms with intentional narratives—whether they’re looking to evoke a sense of calm and protection or vibrancy and prosperity.
