Inspiration for the Bunny Williams collection for Currey & Company comes from the alluring antique fixtures Williams has sourced for her design clients over many years. The pieces arse bold in scale and make a statement in a broad range of materials and styles. These designs are exclusive to Currey & Company—and, like everything Williams does, reflect a sense of grace and timelessness.
BOH caught up with legendary designer Bunny Williams to discuss her latest collection for Currey & Company.
What’s the inspiration behind the new collection?
The collection is inspired by a variety of materials, which range from the cool elegance of plaster and metal to the warmth of humble rope.
What was the starting point for this collection?
I’m always on the lookout for interesting and unusual pieces that add personality to a space. Our goal was a collection with a strong point of view, with pieces that would work well for many different spaces.
What piece are you most excited to unveil?
I’m particularly excited for the plaster pieces—the Winfield and Weslyn wall sconces and the Blanca semi-flush lamp. They’re elegant and add a refined visual flourish wherever they're placed.
How do you feel this collection pushes the brand forward?
This group offers a range of styles, from the classic Willow wall sconce in wrought iron and the whimsical Westley wall sconce with spiraling blossoms and leaves, to the contemporary Belinda chandelier covered in hundreds of glass flowers. Each piece is a great demonstration of Currey’s quality.
What was the collaboration like?
The process was fun! It’s exciting to see the collection evolve from initial ideas as they progress through development, as we determined the best way to use certain materials, such as plaster, and highlight the craftsmanship that’s possible.
