Music industry titan Lionel Richie is expanding into the home sector with a self-named collection, which debuted earlier this week, replete with bone china, weighted crystal barware, decorative glass vessels, leather accessories and candles.
Drawing on a passion for entertaining that he inherited from his early family home on the campus of Tuskegee University in Alabama, the collection also takes inspiration from the singer-songwriter’s travels and cultural influences. “My mother and grandmother had amazing style,” said Richie. “Early on, I was exposed to everything from ballet to the symphony to fine foods and tastes. They loved the style of the ’20s and ’30s,” he says. “While on the road, I was dining in all kinds of spectacular settings, which really fueled my interest in design and greatly expanded it internationally—from royal palaces to the finest hotels and restaurants.”
LRH Barware
Richie’s bone china collection features six mix-and-match motifs: Riviera, Regal, Geneva, Versailles, London and Milano. Additionally, the collection includes weighted crystal barware in four styles (Manhattan, Empire, Rockefeller and Park Avenue), decorative glass vessels such as the Firenze vase, the Jardin Sphere, and the Sunset votive, an array of scented candles and leather accessories, including the Moscow Ice Bucket and Sorrento Tray.
Tuscan Trays
Next on the horizon are LR Studio, a customizable dinnerware collection for restaurants and hotels, and LR Loft, colorful capsule collections designed for a younger audience, debuting in the spring.
