Archtober, the fifth annual festival and grassroots initiative organized by top cultural institutions and professional organizations, has returned to New York with exhibitions, tours, talks, film screenings and panels centered on architecture and design. The theme for this year’s monthlong festival, “Five Years, Five Boroughs,” is expressed via 100-plus events, programs and activities, among them Gabriel Sierra’s Numbers in a Room exhibition on interior spaces; A Long-Awaited Tribute: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian House and Pavilion, an exhibit at the Guggenheim Museum; and Building of the Day, a program that offers an informative tour of a different local landmark each day of the month. Also, this year brings the debut of the Center for Architecture’s Archtober Hall, an exhibition and event space located at 181 Front Street, at the South Street Seaport.

“Our fifth annual festival will be our most memorable,” says Cynthia Kracauer, managing director of the Center for Architecture. “Our partner and sponsor organizations together embody a complete representation of the history and the future of architecture and design work in New York and beyond. Although we are the organizers, the credit for Archtober’s continued success belongs to our partners and sponsors. They originally conceived of the festival five years ago, and their generosity with time and resources is the driving force behind the success of every Archtober.
