Earlier this month in New York City, Interior Design magazine celebrated the year of design with major events welcoming new Hall of Fame inductees and Best of Year award recipients.

Hall of Famers Harry Bates and Paul Masi of Bates Masi + Architects; Collin Burry of Gensler; Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu of Neri and Hu Design and Research Office; and Kenneth Wampler of The Alpha Workshops were honored during a black-tie dinner and ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria December 4. Interior Design editor-in-chief Cindy Allen and president Mark Strauss served as masters of ceremony.

The event drew 1,300 design professionals, making it one of the best-attended events in the 29 year history of the Hall of Fame awards. Notable attendees included Jamie Drake, Juan Montoya, David Kleinberg, Arthur Gensler, Lee Mindle, Calvin Tsao, Sherri Donghia, Alexandra Champalimaud, David Rockwell and Vincente Wolf.

The awards ceremony included the viewing of videos featuring some of the honorees work and interviews:

The following day, December 5, Allen and Strauss announced live the 2013 “Best of Year” winners during a cocktail party and awards presentation at the IAC Building.

The Best of Year awards went to 113 winners across 108 categories of projects and products. They included Pollack, JANUS et Cie, the Alpha Workshops, Meyer Davis Studio, interior designer Alan Chu and Bates + Masi Architects. “This year's Best of Year was especially nail biting, with so much incredible work going head-to-head, brand new categories introduced for the first time, and even a few surprise ties!" said Allen. “We at Interior Design applaud all Best of Year honorees for their significant contributions to the design world and can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2014.”
