“I am thrilled to join Peter and John in the next chapter of the Design Leadership Summit,” said Kelly Smith. “It is the perfect time for the Hearst Design Group to highlight how the media world is changing and to discuss how that impacts design in important ways. It is a constant education and we can't wait to engage the industry's top leaders in this conference.”

Edelman said, "I am so excited to be a part of the original dream of Design Leadership Summit—content first, with a clear focus on inspiration based on great thinkers, no matter the locale. Peter and Kate, along with our advisors, sponsors and other supporters are the best team I can think of to join and lead into the future."

Special advisors will include Paul Goldberger, architecture and design writer and critic, and now contributing editor for Vanity Fair magazine; Hamilton South, founder of the HL Group and former president of marketing for the Ralph Lauren Corporation; and Christy MacLear, executive director of the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and founding executive director of the Philip Johnson Glass House will join the Design Leadership Network as special advisors.

For locals and out-of-town members alike, New York offers all of us extraordinary access to the people, ideas, and venues that have the potential to shape our industry strengthen our community. We can’t imagine a better place to be in 2013.”

"I am delighted to hear about all of the various partners lending their experience, insight, and bandwidth to the DLN and the DLS," said interior designer and DLN member Malcolm James Kutner. "This kind of industry diversity is essential to communicating the value that professional designers can bring to the table, and to insuring balance, collaboration and communication across our industry."
