Interior design symposium comes to New Jersey

An innovation-themed conference targeting New Jersey designers is coming to Jersey City’s Liberty Science Center next week. The New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID)’s Design Symposium & Industry Trade Show will this year hew to the theme “Design IT: It’s in Our DNA.”

Four CEUs will be on offer, including from Moen, with “The Latest in Shower Design and Technology” (HSW credit and NKBA, AIA, GBCI-approved); Steelcase, with both “Wellness and the Visual Environment” (HSW credit) and “Speech, Privacy and Sound Masking” (HSW credit and AIA-approved); and Phyllis Harbinger, with “Getting Organized and Streamlining Your Workflow.”

A keynote luncheon will introduce attendees to designer Ghislaine Viñas, who will be on hand to discuss the impact of aesthetics on mood in a keynote titled “Creating Happiness,” followed by a trade show stocked with 70-some resources.

“‘It’s in Our DNA’ promises to be our best event yet, allowing attendees to gain new insights in the field of design, cultivate new relationships and discover new products and resources in this stimulating, interactive environment,” said Joan Ravasy, president of ASID NJ. “It’s also a great opportunity for our industry partners and others to exhibit their latest innovations to a receptive audience and to strengthen connections with the design community. Exhibitors and sponsors will enjoy never-before-seen opportunities for product and brand visibility.”

The daylong conference welcomes interior designers, architects, industrial designers and students, including members of other ASID chapters, as well as the Interior Design Society (IDS), the National Kitchen + Bath Association (NKBA), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA).

Sponsors include luxury fixture company Blackman and bath-kitchen brand Porcelanosa, and media sponsors include Design NJ: New Jersey’s Home and Design Magazine and Aspire Design and Home.
