BOH is thankful to report that there are more “Comings” than “Goings” this month. Read on to learn about new execs at Emerald Expositions, IMC and more.

MEDIA & PR

Galerie magazine named Mara Gredick as its chief revenue officer. Gredick spent eight years at Hearst before moving to Sandow, and will oversee strategy for print, digital, social and events, as well as launch new platforms and establish more partnerships.

Town & Country has a new writer: Olivia Martin will lead the style and interiors beat, covering the home, design and style market sections, in addition to writing features to expand the magazine’s coverage of the industry. Martin comes from The Architect’s Newspaper, where she served as managing editor for three years, as well as working at Dwell and Wallpaper*.

Matt Bean, formerly of Men’s Health, Sports Illustrated and Entertainment Weekly, has replaced Irene Edwards as editor in chief at Sunset magazine.

Andrew Joseph, of his eponymous PR firm, was named a contributing editor for shelter quarterly Aspire Design and Home magazine. “I hate to admit it but I am approaching my 20-year mark living and growing professionally in the Big Apple,” said Joseph in a statement. “My first job in New York was at Condé Nast Publications.... It feels like I am coming home again by collaborating editorially with Aspire Design and Home.” In addition to his new role, Joseph will continue running his PR firm full-time.

ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN

Rifle Paper Co. has a new president. Trish Whalen is leading the brand’s exploration of new product within fabric, furniture and tabletop categories.

Lewis “Floral Bandit” Miller is UrbanStems’ new creative director. Before joining the Washington, D.C.–based online flower delivery company, Lewis ran his own floral design firm for 19 years, where he created the Flower Flash—which the company described as “larger-than-life, Banksy-esque pop-up floral installations that quickly became a highly shared sensation”—to make something beautiful with abundant floral waste after major installations. (Lewis was also one of BOH’s industry innovators in the Spring 2018 issue.) UrbanStems will donate a portion of the proceeds from all Flower Flash bouquets to ProjectArt, which offers free after-school arts education to students.

New York architecture and design firm DXA Studio has hired five new team members. Daniel Kraffcyzk will serve as senior designer, Cesar Juarez and Alberto Herzog will serve as intermediate designers, and Ryan Barnette and Sarp Arditi are junior designers.

Tulsa-based Austin Bean Design Studio has split into two firms. Bailey Austin Design and Mel Bean Interiors are now run independently by Bailey Austin and Mel Bean, who were former co-owners.

Wendi Parson was named chief external affairs officer of New York’s Museum of Arts and Design. She will lead marketing and communications, media and PR, digital and social, branding and design, as well as visitor experience.

Kelly Bristol has become vice president of trade show business development at Dallas Market Center, where she will lead strategic planning, merchandising and leasing of temporary exhibits at home and gift markets. Bristol previously held positions at the National Stationery Show and Emerald Expositions.

The D&D Building in New York has named Dallas Bonds as the new director of design professionals. She leads the in-house buying and designer referral program.

Washington, D.C. firm //3877 has welcomed architects Elizabeth Kovacevic and Matt Vargas and interior designer Abby Eckard to its growing team. They will all play active roles in shaping the firm’s hospitality, retail and residential projects, with Vargas focusing especially on hospitality.

Detroit-based general contractor Paul Davis has hired interior designer Anna Sanders to work with clients on full-service design and drafting. Before Paul Davis, Sanders worked at Tile & Stone, a flooring shop in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

MANUFACTURING AND RETAIL

Dudley Moore was appointed chairman of the High Point Market Authority board, replacing Universal Furniture president and CEO Jeff Scheffer, who held the role for two years. Moore is the president of design firm Otto & Moore.

Emerald Expositions president and CEO David Loechner has resigned and will no longer serve on its board after nearly four decades with the company. Chief financial officer Philip Evans will fill the role until a replacement is named.

Following its merger with AmericasMart, International Market Centers has appointed a new executive team: Greg Avitabile is executive vice president of operations; other executives include Dorothy Belshaw is chief marketing and digital officer, Scott Eckman is president of furniture and home decor leasing, Bill Lacey is chief financial officer, JoAnn Miller Marshall is president of trade show leasing, Carrie Messina is VP of human resources, and Dave Savula is president of gift and apparel leasing.

John Lomax was named COO of Gabriella White, the parent company of furniture brands Summer Classics and Gabby, where he will manage supply chain, quality control, logistics and manufacturing. Lomax had previously worked in logistics and supply chain at Heritage Home Group.

Stone and tile company Walker Zanger has expanded its executive team, naming Erika Egede-Nissen its new director of marketing, Jeff Lupica VP of national sales, and Mike Bastone executive VP of key accounts.

Twenty-year industry veteran Leana Salamah was named vice president of marketing at the International Housewares Association. She replaces Derek Miller, who was recently promoted to IHA president.

Teknion, an international office systems and furniture manufacturer, promoted Steven Pressacco to regional vice president, Northern California. Pressacco began working for the brand in 2010.

Julian Chichester has expanded its leadership team. Tomas Georgi holds the newly created position of vice president of business development. Mary Hilton-Reid will take Georgi’s former role as showroom manager of the company’s 5,000-square-foot showroom in the New York Design Center, which it shares with Mr Brown London.

Tom Dixon has appointed Alessandro Vergano as its new CEO. Vergano formerly served as chief marketing officer of Swarovski. In his new role, Vergano will split his time between Hong Kong and London and work directly with Tom Dixon to expand the brand’s global reach.

Dipesh Haria is the new creative director of the hospitality business segment of Nourison, an international floor covering company. He has held roles at Oriental Weavers, Couristan, Brintons and Ulster Carpets, and will spearhead Nourison’s brand positioning strategies, including design trend analysis, collections, marketing, product launches and trade shows.
