Houzz, a photo database and community for the home design market, has raised $2M from investors including Oren Zeev, who has backed digital media leaders such as Audible and Chegg; Donald Katz, Founder & CEO of Audible; Gary Ginsberg, Executive Vice President of Time Warner Inc.; Jeff Fluhr, Co-Founder of StubHub (and CEO until its sale to eBay); Amos Wilnai, Founder of MMC Networks, among others.

Since its inception in 2009, Houzz has grown into the largest online home design photo database offering a digital solution to clipping design photos from magazines and stuffing them into a folder. Features include the ability to scroll through more than 60,000 full-size home decor photos uploaded by 10,000+ design and remodeling professionals; save favorite photos to their personal ideabooks; find design professionals in their area and send them ideabooks to jumpstart projects; and tap into Houzz’s passionate community for design advice, tips and trends. To date, approximately 130,000 personal ideabooks have been created, with new ones added every hour.

On Thursday, Houzz released its next-generation iPad app, which brings the swipe-and-touch experience to the Houzz experience.

“The organic growth of the Houzz community has been overwhelming, and the feedback on Houzz.com tells us that we have struck a chord within the home design community,” says Adi Tatarko, CEO of Houzz. “Our funding allows us to continue to innovate in the home design space, beginning with our groundbreaking new iPad app that we believe will simplify how users search for inspiration and realize their design dreams.”
