Design giants support LA Modernism Show and Sale

Top talents like Frank Gehry, Kelly Wearstler and Jeffrey Alan Marks are playing host to the 28th annual Los Angeles Modernism Show and Sale’s opening night event on April 24. The design committee includes an equally impressive roster of names like Alison Blumenfeld, Waldo Fernandez, Oliver Furth, David Netto and Windsor Smith. All proceeds from the event will benefit P.S. Arts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children’s lives through arts education.

The show, open through April 26, features over 40 exhibitors that will present decorative and fine arts from all design movements of the 20th century. Returning dealers include Reform Gallery and Off the Wall of Los Angeles, a La MOD and Porter & Plunk of Palm Springs and Didier Ltd of London. Pierre Anthony Galleries of New York and Palm Beach and Ursus Books of New York are among the newcomers.

Programming includes a special appearance, lecture and book signing in celebration of the release of An Eames Anthology: Articles, Film Scripts, Interviews, Letters, Notes and Speeches by Charles Eames and Ray Eames, edited by Daniel Ostroff (Yale University Press). The book collects the Eames’s writings. There will be a 30-minute lecture by Ostroff, followed by at Q&A and book signing on April 25 at 1 p.m.

The Opening Night Party tickets range from $150 to $500 depending on entrance time and are available in advance or at the door. Admission to the show through the weekend is open to the public. The $15 per person fee includes a show catalog. Show hours are Saturday, April 25 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 26, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The show will take place at 3LABS Studio in the Hayden Tract Arts District of Culver City.
